Philadelphia – Embiid makes MVP case in 117-110 win over Raptors
The slow starts continue for the Raptors and it’s proving to be too much. The Raps rolled into Philadelphia riding high on a three game win streak. Yes there were bumps in those games, but the overcame. This night would not be so kind.
The Sixers took the first half by storm. Shooting 77% (30 of 39) and taking a 20 point lead into halftime. That is the bad news. If there was good news, it’s that the Raptors fought bad and played hard for Coach Nick Nurse.
Free VanVleet hit a three in the fourth that brought the game to 103-101 but that was the last big run the Raptors would have.
If the Raptors to have any chance in the play in tournament or at a first round upset, they will need to get more consistent shooting and defending. The slow starts will be a playoff hurdle they may not be able to over come.
Fluent Finale: Embiid has eyes in the MVP and if he plays like one, the Sixers have a legit shot at the NBA final. A lot their hopes will also rely on James Harden and his injury. As he sat in the locker after the game, left ankle wrapped, he was asked about, his response.
“I feel good”
For Sixers fans, they sure hope so.
Now you’re more fluent!
