Raptors continue to shoot themselves in the foot

Washington — Raptors continue to shoot themselves in the foot and fall 119-108 to Wizards

Unfortunately it’s the only thing hitting the mark as of late. After a nice win against the Bulls that saw Fred VanVleet go 1-11 from the field, the Raptors had to endure a 5-17 performance that included 2-11 from the three that keeps VanVleet as the third worst FG% player in the NBA.

Making things worse, they allowed Kyle Kuzma to score the first 10 points of the game en route to his 30 point night. The once heralded defensive efforts of the Raptors are of days long past and although winners of their past 5 of 6 before tonight, it seems nothing will come easy.

OG Anunoby had 26 and Jakob Poeltl added 23 and 13 rebounds. That’s the upside. The downside, Pascal Siakam had an off night, going 6-16 including 1-6 from three. With the exception of Chris Bouchers 12 points, there wasn’t much to cheer about from the Raptors bench either. They were out scores 24-18 by the Wizards bench. Newly acquired Will Barton saw 7 minutes of action and recorded zeros in points, rebounds and assists.

Fluent Figures: With the win, the Wizards move into a tie with the Raptors in the standing with two games in hand. The Raptors next game is Saturday at 5pm in Washington vs these same Wizards.

Now you’re more fluent!
